Track Days

The Review
A great experience on the track at any speed.
There are very few cars that you finish driving, get out and have to take a second glance as it to say, hmmm, is that what I was driving... very nice. I put 458 on my track day a few years back, high on that list. First off is the sound. Yes, it screams as you every time you hit the magic button. But not in the way your partner screams at you the day after garbage day when... you know how it goes. Is is a pure, high pitched and very race-ready pitch that says, this is what I was built for. It really makes a difference being able to put a car like this through its paces, as you really makes you realise what going fast actually means. Yes you can go fast most super saloons these days and they will arrive at the corners not far off the same time as a 458. But what makes the 458 special is what happens when you are in the corner. Without losing too much speed out of the straights of the Top gear test track, the 458 rolled through the corners as flat as you ever ask for. Just made we want to push the car harder and harder around the track.Steering was precise, braking strong, and the sound just adding to the whole experience all the more. And yes, it was an experience! In the same way as I said in my Huracan review that everyone should drive a Lambo, I would say the same here to. Well worth a drive, especially somewhere you can really open it up and get the most from it!
The Ferrari 458 is quite something. Surprisingly but mentioned years back by a good friend, the Ferrari is surprisingly comfortable and spacious for me inside (and I'm not small). Mixed with the blistering performance from all perspectives, this is indeed a great car. Given it was a track day, I can't say whether this is a keeper, but certainly recommend driving this or the more recent 488 based on the premise this new cars are getting better and better!
