Nimble Hatchback

Summary

Now this car is a recent purchase due to my realisation that I'm a petrol head who wasnt dead yet. As you will read from my GLA review I needed to feel alive whilst driving again and this was the car I chose being an old school Ford kinda guy. I could have bought the RS version and heart said yes but having kids and seeing fuel prices I opted for the ST diesel version (I also drive alot due to work).

Practicality and Comfort

Its practical as it has 4 doors and the normal focus space which is more than enough for a family hatch back. The ride is a little harsh (I kinda like the go kart feel) this is possibly down to the 235/35/19 tires.

Performance and Handling

Performance is good better than the Merc GLA with greater acceleration and the feel theough the steering wheel is so much more precise. The stats of 0-60 vary but I will attempt an actual time.at some point in the future to see what one is more accurate. As in other sections here the car is nimble around country lanes and an absolute joy to drive.

Reliability and Running Costs

So my daily commute is a 36 mile roundtrip and at present the car is saying 60mpg average. If I'm doing this journey for a week or eats just over half a tank. Reliability is what you expect from a diesel ford which is up there with the mercs, bmws and Audis.

Looks and Style

Well I went for black on black so what's not to like. Factory fitted tinted glass, sporty looking body styling which isn't as transformer as the honda civic type r so for me it's more than enough.

Features

My focus although is an ST2 comes without leather or cruise control but has heated front and rear screens, rear camera, AC, recaro seats, DAB radio which are all I need.

Would I recommend it? YES

Just do it.

There will be performance upgrades in the future and ongoing tweaks as the ST has far more potential that what came from the factory hence my 8/10 rating...watch this space.
