So its Saturday morning, April 20th and I am searching for Macan GTS’ as you do at 7am on a Saturday morning when you have kids and dogs. Nothing out of the ordinary there. I noticed that there were quite a few cars coming up on Autotrader (UK car buying/selling website) in the High Wycombe area, which seemed odd as I don’t know any dealerships stockpiling Macans in that region of the world. But low and behold, a new Porsche Centre has sprung up in the middle of nowhere. That’s not fair, its the middle of somewhere for someone I am sure. Nonetheless, I saw it as my duty as a “car like person with car like curiosities” to go check out what was going on.
Arrival
Upon arrival at the dealership, I was greeted with a pretty decent size car park, with plenty of parking, and a delightful splattering of various Porsche models all over the place. From the Macans I had been stalking online, to a rather nice yellow Cayman GT4 RS, that a customer had just come down to collect. That was a pretty warm welcome if I ever saw one, but based on a video I watched later, it seemed that I missed the grand unveiling for that particular car. They had a few Taycans, bunch of 911’s, few Cayennes and the occasional Panamera, all adding to the ambience, even before stepping foot in the dealership.

Being only 4 or so months old, the dealership is in its infancy, so still looks “out the box” shiny and new, sitting right next to an equally shiny and equally new looking Bentley showroom right next door. The showroom is situated over 2 floors, with a good selection of models across both. The bottom floor seemed to cover the more mainstream models with the turbos and GT models upstairs, with the exception of the GT2 RS that was sitting front and centre as you enter the dealership. Most of the cars were unlocked, which means you can still browse like an adult, which a lot of showrooms forget is important these days, especially when your are looking to buy a car. Sounds obvious right? You would be surprised how many dealerships lock their cars these days, which is just crazy! There are nice seating areas for customer on both floors, and the environment seemed all around pretty relaxed. They had very old 911 sitting on the ground floor, which was also nice to see them honouring the heritage! I managed to befriend a Porsche Club member (CARLADMATT on Instagram), snapping photos of a 911 Speedster, whilst making my way around. Apparently, the club had come down to share in the unveiling of the GT4 RS which is pretty cool and exactly what a community is all about! At the same time, its seems that the GT2 RS had also been purchased by a guy who come down to see it in, err, a GT3 RS. How about that for hobby horsing! Very nice indeed. Definitely enjoying the experience so far, and the smell of fresh leather everywhere (that only car enthusiasts and weird bondage folk will understand the the joy of that smell :).
I was met by Martin, the Sales Manager, who was more than happy to show me around the cars they have in the showroom, and had a good long chat about the Macan GTS, the Macan Turbo and which one makes more sense as an everyday driver, C63s and the delightful sounds they make, and a few other topics. He even went out of his way to fire up the GT2 RS in the showroom, choke out everyone in a 3 metre radius, and put a massive smile on the faces of those same people. Very nice guy, very helpful and ready to support in my search. We sometimes underestimate the importance of good service in the car world and it’s often about shifting units out of the door, rather than stopping and enjoying the pleasures of a great brand with your clients. Porsche is and should always be for the enthusiast (we will talk about a few models on another day) and given this dealership prides itself on welcoming us with open arms, I really hope they keep this mantra for ever more!
Definitely a good experience, and worth popping in for anyone in that area of the world.
Enjoy!
